When your hormones are in a healthy balance, you look and feel your best. Since your hormones are tied to overall physical and emotional well-being, accurate hormone assessment is an essential part of any women’s age management plans. Hormone levels change as we age, which causes a variety of unpleasant symptoms in both men and women. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) replenishes the hormones your body needs to function. Patients experiencing the symptoms of perimenopause or menopause can benefit from BHRT. Symptoms may include fatigue, loss of libido, mood and memory dysfunction, sleep disturbance, weight gain, and more.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) in women is individualized for each patient depending on their medical history, age, and symptoms. Optimization refers to obtaining a hormone level to address a patient’s specific symptoms and support overall health, fitness, and function – physical and mental.

Most hormones prescribed at our clinic are Bio-identical. Bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) recognizes the benefits of hormones our bodies recognize as natural. BHRT is most effective when combined with a healthy diet and healthy lifestyle.

Our primary focus is the replacement of natural female hormones including Testosterone, Estradiol, and Progesterone in the peri-menopausal, post-menopausal and post-hysterectomy patient. Recognition of the role of these important hormones in health, wellness and disease prevention is emphasized.

Female patients are also educated on the potential benefits of other hormone supplementation including Testosterone and Thyroid medication. Testosterone therapy can have significant beneficial effects in women including an overall sense of wellbeing and strength, increased lean muscle mass, and reduced fat percentage. It may significantly increase libido and improve many aspects of a woman sexuality. Thyroid hormone supplementation is effective in relieving symptoms of hypothyroidism including fatigue, brain fog, cold intolerance, constipation, and weight gain.

Hormones affect nearly every aspect of a person’s emotional, physical, and psychological development. This can include everything from how well they sleep, how they deal with stress, how alert and awake they are, and how happy they are on a regular basis. The body relies on hormones for nearly every bodily function.

As people age, their levels of hormones like progesterone, estrogen, testosterone, dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA), and pregnenelone begin to decrease. These changes can result in:

These changes can have devastating, substantial impacts on a person’s overall quality of life that are often left overlooked. This is particularly disturbing because declines in hormone levels don’t just affect mood — they can lead to physical changes that pose a real, medical risk if left unaddressed.

Hormone imbalances can result in several unpleasant symptoms including depression, hot flashes, weight gain, sleeplessness, and reduced concentration. Other symptoms like the accumulation of large amounts of belly fat can lead to even more dangerous conditions such as metabolic syndrome, type-2 diabetes, some types of cancer, and cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis. We customize programs to match each person’s needs. We don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to hormone optimization treatment. That’s why during the initial consultations, we’ll take the time to learn about your symptoms and your medical history. We’ll also carry out comprehensive blood tests before recommending a hormone optimization program.

What We Do to Rebalance Your Hormones

Our hormone replacement therapy services aren’t focused solely on testosterone and estrogen. We want to ensure that all of the hormones in your body are properly optimized. That’s why we’ll also check your thyroid levels to help you bring your body into equilibrium. It’s important to note that we don’t use synthetic hormones; we use bioidentical hormones. Biodentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) provides the body with the customized hormones it needs to function properly. Our specialists are highly trained in this type of hormone therapy and they use integrative techniques to assist people who are dealing with hormonal imbalances.

Breast cancer

Does BRHT Cause Breast Cancer in Women?

This is a common question with hormone optimization. However, there are no published studies demonstrating that BHRT causes breast cancer in women.  In fact, there are studies that demonstrate that BHRT can decrease the risk for breast cancer.

Hormone Optimization: Why We Don’t Use Synthetic Hormones

Synthetic hormones were well-received when they were first developed. They helped to reduce symptoms of heart disease, menopause, and osteoporosis. However, it was later discovered that they could sometimes cause blood clots, strokes, and cancer. Synthetic hormones aren’t biologically identical to those produced by the human body and there is evidence that they do more harm than good.

In contrast, bioidentical hormones, as the name suggests, are identical to the natural hormones produced by the human body. They are extracted from wild yam, soybeans, and other plants and then processed by a compounding pharmacy. Bioidentical hormones have been shown to be protective and they do not have the same adverse effects as synthetic hormones.  The treatment is customized specifically to your hormonal needs. In order to get the best results from BHRT, you need to see an experienced, highly trained professional who specializes in hormones.
